Tanjore painting

Tanjore Paintings are the major form of classical south Indian paintings from the town of Tanjhavoor in Tamil Nadu. This style of painting has been followed widely by the people in the southern Tamil Nadu for past two centuries

Tanjore Paintings are known for their surface richness, vivid colors, compact positions and especially for their glittering gold foils used to give them their rich look. Essentially serving as devotional icons, their subjects are of most paintings are if Hindu gods and goddesses and saints. This paintings are notable for their adornment in the form of semi precious stones or Jaipur stones, pearls and pure 22 carrots of gold foils. They add beauty and culture to the variety of surroundings and decor.

This is my first Tanjore painting. Tanjore paintings are done on solid wood planks. These paintings are large and the faces are round and divine.
